Event Details
This workshop aims to equip community members in becoming more civically competent communicators. Come learn practical communication skills needed to constructively respond to the increasingly polarized complexities that Americans currently face.
Participants will leave having explored:
Ways that beliefs and values influence communication behaviors
Methods to cultivate curiosity for those with whom you disagree
Strategies for self-care during tension
Skills, such as listening, speaking and turn-taking, that are mutually beneficial to conversation participants
Additional resources to explore and apply independently
About Elizabeth Sink:
Elizabeth Sink is a Master Teaching Instructor with a passion for facilitating healthy engagement across different identities. She has taught at Colorado State University since 2004 in Communication Studies, the KEY Communities and the University Honors Program.
Through a Leadership Fellowship in 2021 she spearheaded and currently leads CSU’s Multifaith & Belief Initiatives, under the Vice Present for Student Affairs’ Office. These initiatives aim to focus greater attention on spiritual, religious and secular (non-religious) belief identities by educating, celebrating and promoting constructive engagement across belief differences.
