Let’s turn the horror genre on its head! Stephen Graham Jones (I Was a Teenage Slasher) writes his story from the perspective of the killer, Devon A. Mihesuah (The Bone Picker) retells Native stories and histories with a spine-tingling twist, and Lindsay King-Miller (The Z Word) attempts to overcome a breakup and save Pride during a zombie outbreak. Hear how these authors bring fresh blood to the horror genre.

About the Panelists

Stephen Graham Jones is the NYT bestselling author of some thirty novels and collections, and there’s some novellas and comic books in there as well. Most recent are The Angel of Indian Lake,  I Was a Teenage Slasher, and the ongoing Earthdivers. Up before too long are True Believers and The Buffalo Hunter Hunter. Stephen lives and teaches in Boulder, Colorado.

Devon Mihesuah, an enrolled citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, is the Cora Lee Beers Price Professor in the Hall Center for the Humanities at the University of Kansas and is the former editor of the American Indian Quarterly and the University Nebraska Press book series, “Contemporary Indigenous Issues.” A historian by training, she is the author of numerous award-winning books on Indigenous history, current issues, and novels.

Lindsay King-Miller is the author of The Z Word (Quirk, 2024). Her fiction and poetry have appeared in Fireside Fiction, Baffling Magazine, The Deadlands, and numerous other publications. Her second novel This Is My Body is forthcoming from Quirk Books in 2025. She lives in Denver, CO with her partner and their two children.
