Refugee Resettlement in America

In a world where more than 100 million people have had to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, war, and disasters, some are sent to rebuild their lives here in the US. In this presentation you will learn about who they are, how they get here, and what is being done to assist them. Tonight's International Night is presented by Jennifer Perry, who works at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) will discuss refugee resettlement in the United States.

Jennifer is an educator with a Masters degree in Teaching from Brown University. She taught at-risk students in the public school system for most of her career at a high school she helped to create and develop, and now coordinates the volunteer and intern program at the IRC in Denver.  She is a Returned Peace Corps volunteer who served in Thailand, teaching English and engaging rural middle school students in agriculture projects. She started at the IRC as a Housing Logistics Volunteer, meeting with leasing agents and finding and setting up homes for rent to refugees.
