Program Description

Event Details

Thanks for your interest, both theatres are at full capacity for this event. Please check back on occasion to see if registrants cancelled their tickets and seats have opened. We will offer a standby list on the day of the film screening and try to get as many people into the movie as possible.

Standby details: Starting at 5:00 p.m. on October 13, 2025 our event check-in table at The Lyric will begin issuing standby line numbers for anyone who arrives but does not have a ticket. Starting five minutes prior to the film start time, any unclaimed ticketed seats will be released in number order to the standby line. When a standby number is called, the holder must turn in their number for a film ticket to the screening. While entry is not guaranteed, we will try to get as many people into the film as possible.

Parking at The Lyric is limited, and we encourage people to carpool, bike ride, or secure alternative transportation. Street parking off of Hickory Street is located just north of The Lyric. Do not park at Jax Outdoors.

In partnership with Colorado State University and the ACT Human Rights Film Festival, and in observance of Banned Books Week, Poudre Libraries hosts a film screening of The Librarians.

The Librarians (dir. Kim A. Snyder, 2025) follows librarians throughout the United States as they work to protect children’s rights to access books. The documentary takes us to an unexpected front line where librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy, free access to information, and our First Amendment Rights. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work—their rallying cry for the freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale. As they well know, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities.

The documentary film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and won Best Documentary Feature Film jury awards at both the Sarasota (Fla.) Film Festival and the Dallas International Film Festival. The film runs 92 minutes in English.
