What’s a Rhino Without a Horn – Controversial or Just Conservation in the 21st Century?
A rhino is a tank. With its horn, a charging rhino is a formidable beast to lions, spotted hyenas, and even elephants. But black rhino populations have been decimated because their horns mean big money on the illicit market. Rhino conservation is complex and requires one to work in the dirt, at night, and even with poachers. CSU's Wildlife Conservationist and professor, Joel Berger, knows all about this and is here to share his wild experiences and fascinating research on the black rhino populations in Africa.
About the Presenter:
Senior scientist, Joel Berger, has written popular science and adventure books on controversial themes with a focus on rhinos, in addition to re-introduced wolves and grizzly bears, and climate challenges to Arctic and Asian wildlife. He is currently the Barbara Cox University Chair in Wildlife Conservation at Colorado State University.
