The Fort Collins International Center presents International Night, focusing on a different country or region from around the world each session. Speakers are volunteers who wish to share their experiences with the Fort Collins community. More information is available through the Fort Collins International Center website.
In this program on Saudi Arabia, the speakers will present two contrasting views of Saudi Arabia, twenty-two years apart. Elizabeth Stanley lived and worked there from 1999 to 2001, and Cathie McCallum visited friends there in 2023. Elizabeth held an administrative position at Dar Al Hekma Private College (now Dar Al Hekma University), a new College in Jeddah for Arabic women, and will describe both her work experience and her activities with colleagues and in the expatriate community. Cathie enjoyed a 12-day visit with a former student and will describe the hospitality of her local host family, noting some of the significant changes in the Kingdom after it opened to tourists.
